What is 3d filament?

3D printing filament is the thermoplastic feedstock for fused deposition modeling 3D printers. Filament is commonly available in the two standard diameters of 1.75 mm and 2.85 mm.

As 3D printers grow in popularity, manufacturers are also creating new filaments with different colors and special properties. Currently, the range of available filaments is very wide and there are many materials to choose from: easy printing and popular PLA, universal and suitable for PETG mechanical parts, very hard ABS, strong composite materials that mimic the look of wood or bronze, glow-in-the-dark filaments, soft materials…

Each filament requires specific print settings, which means that the same type materials from two different manufacturers may require different settings. It is even possible that the filament from the same manufacturer requires different settings depending on the color (for example: PLA blue and red).
To achieve the best possible quality while printing, always check the temperature of manufacturer recommended printing.

Brands

Types of 3d filaments:

  • You can find the filament you need according to the following criteria: According to its material, such as PLA, ABS or RESIN.
  • Another way of classifying 3d filaments or means of production is according to the use you are going to give it, such as medical / dental use, toys, cosplay / costumes, home maintenance, day-to-day tools…
  • The filament can be classified by its manufacturers, among which brands such as Honuaki, NinjaTek, HatchBox, Polymaker, Ic3D, Protopasta, Makerbot, Ultimaker and many others.
  • Another criterion that we must not forget is the price, we will show you the best filaments according to their value for money. We will help you find the filament that best suits you and with which you will share your creations with everyone.
